You don't actually need to download all your drivers again. You could create a new DS and then specify the "out of box drivers" folder from the mdt DS as the source folder to import the drivers to your new DS.
What I did was uninstall , edited the version file in the Control folder so that the version number was less that 5. Everything was intact, but the driver folders were completely out of whack, as well as the applications, so I had to re-import the drivers.
