If your Airguide compass shows deviation from north, you need to adjust it with the compass' north-south compensator shaft, labeled "N-S. Verify north with your hand-held compass in case your boat drifted. Turn your boat to the east. If the compass reads anything other than east, then rotate the "E-W" compensator shaft until the compass reads east.
Spin your boat to the south. If the compass reads anything other than south, you need to rotate the "N-S" compensator shaft to correct half that error. For example, if the error is 6 degrees, adjust the shaft to correct only 3 degrees. I have an 'Airguide' compass that my great granddad bought back in the early 60's, that compass is as old if not older than I am, it has been through at least 8 vehicles.

Mine were on eBay. The battery case is Ground and must be exposed to the spring. Assemble the light in its plastic tube like this: Gently slide the spring over the base of the bulb.
Put the positive end of your battery in the other end of the spring, being sure spring contacts the battery case where you removed the paper. Replace the square black end piece onto the back of the compass. Gently press the bulb to turn the light on! The replacemnt bulb is a number , also available online. Some older penlites use it, as well as some lighted magnifiers. When I bought my Airguide, I saw many reviews where the user guesses it was defective and threw it out.
